WHY MANTIS IS CALLED "THE FIGHTING MACHINE"

The Mantis        

Mantises are an order of insect which consists of over 2400 species in about 430 negera in 30 families.
It's scientific name is 'Mantodea'. Some of its lower classifications are 'Mantid' 'Empusidae'
'Thespidae'.

It's Shape

They have a triangular shape face
Mantis' Face
 with bulging eyes and a long flexible neck. It has 6 legs,
2 wings, 2 antennae. 
It's front legs are called RAPTORIALES
which are equipped with spikes.


Mantis' reflexes

Their reflexes of  snaring prey with their front legs is so quick that it is not visible with a naked eye. They use the spikes on their front legs to pin the prey.

What does Mantises eat?

Mantises commonly eats beetles, crickets and some other insects.

Mantises even kill their mates

According to some scientists female mantis produces more eggs if she eats her mate.

Why is mantis called 'THE FIGHTING MACHINE'?



The most interesting thing about the mantises is even they are so small in size they can fight a cat and even kill snakes,mice and some other animals which are bigger than mantis in size.
